  Electric Drive Train Simulator FAQ

Q: Those Mr. Fusion batteries are great! Where Can I buy Them?

A: Sorry, those batteries don’t actually exist.  They’re just something made up to stand in for a regulated power supply.

Q: Why does the motor specs window show that the motor is 1.5 hp, but in the drive train specs window it’s only 1.6 hp for two motors?

A:  The numbers under the motor specs tab show what the motor would do if it were connected to an ideal power source with no electrical resistance like a regulated power supply.  In a system using batteries, the batteries, wiring, and speed controller all add some electrical resistance that limits the power the total system can produce.

Q: Sometimes the current line goes above the top of the current graph in the test drive simulation, is this a bug?

A:  No, the top of the graph represents the calculated stall current.  You can draw more than an electric motor's stall current by rapidly switching it from forward to reverse, this is called "plugging", which can draw up to twice the current of a motor at stall.

Q: Can you sponsor my team or bot?

A: Sorry, we're not sponsoring any teams at this time.
